Sing Praise

These brownies are:

For anyone that loves chocolate.  For anyone that loves peanut butter.  For anyone that loves the combination of the two.  For anyone that loves fudge.  For anyone that loves their tastebuds!

Try these brownies.  Simple.  Easy.  Freaking delicious.  Dense brownie taste and texture is complemented by a layer of peanut butter plus a fudge as an icing/topping.  Your tastebuds will be so thankful, they’ll sing praise to these brownies.  They are amazing.  I’m not bragging on my baking skills, because I didn’t create this recipe (my mom got it from a family friend), but this is one of my most requested recipes from friends.  Always a hit!

Last weekend, a former teammate and her fiance had a wedding shower and I brought these because I knew she liked them.  Not a lot of them were eaten because there were two other beautiful cakes there.

But people took some brownies for home and came back to me this past week requesting/demanding the recipe.

Now people all over the world can please their tastebuds.  I think I can hear some tastebuds singing…

Peanut Butter Brownies

Ingredients:

1 package brownie mix (or your favorite homemade recipe)

1 cup smooth peanut butter

Icing:

1 stick of butter

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/3 cup of milk

1 tsp vanilla

8 large marshmallows

pinch of salt

1 box or small bag of powdered sugar

Directions:

Prepare brownies as directed.  Be sure not to over bake.

After removing them from the oven, spread peanut butter over surface.  The hotter the brownies, the easier the peanut butter will spread.

For the icing:

Put everything but the powdered sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat.  Melt everything together, stirring often to be sure that the chocolate doesn’t burn.

When the marshmallows are melted and everything is mixed, add the powdered sugar.  I’ve found that doing three different additions cuts down on the amount of sugar that spills out of the pan.  Whisk the powdered sugar into the chocolate mixture until smooth.

Remove from heat and pour evenly over the peanut butter+brownies.  Allow to cool.

  1. OMG these look awesome! Definitely trying these.

I like extra fudgy brownies so I made a couple of other small changes to the box mix that makes the brownies amazing.
    1) Replace Oil with Butter (same amount required)
    2) Use one less egg than required by mix
    3) My favorite- Replace water with cold coffee. Makes chocolate go nutz!

Enjoy! Can’t wait to try this marshmallow maddness on my brownies.

    • i do like brownies extra fudgy; leaving out one egg makes them better in my opinion, too! and i will definitely try the coffee trick. that is an excellent way to put a spin on something in a box and make it your own.

  2. oh.my.god. thank you for sharing.
